Dimboola is located in the Wimmera region of Western Victoria, 334 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and half-way between Melbourne and Adelaide. The town is surrounded by fields of wheat and cereal crops, as well as numerous sheep farms, and it is these industries that have provided the livelihood of Dimboola since the mid 1800s. Several historical buildings can be found within the town, including the former Dimboola Court House, the Old Shire Hall, and the Victoria Hotel.
The Recreation Reserve, situated at Lloyd Street in Dimboola, provides parking for self-contained vehicles at no cost. Additionally, access to potable water and a dump point is available nearby on Wimmera Street.
With stunning sunsets, some of Australia’s unique wildlife, wide-open plains, wetlands and waterways, national parks, historic sites, and a friendly community, Dimboola is the perfect place for travellers to stop, play and stay.
While in town be sure to visit the Dimboola Common, on the Wimmera River flood plains, in the area between the township and the river. The Dimboola Common includes historical settlement sites, a Chinese camp and market gardens. Just a few kilometres west of town, next to the Western Highway, you will find the infamous Pink Lake – a real treat and an attraction not to be missed.
