Warracknabeal is located 331 north-west of Melbourne, on the Henty Highway. The towns name is said to derive from an Aboriginal expression, 'place of the big gums shading the water hole.' Today, Warracknabeal is the business and service centre of the northern Wimmera and southern Mallee districts. 

Casual parking is available in Jamoueau Street, and for those wishing to stay and explore the region, Warracknabeal Caravan Park, located on Lyle Street, offers short and long-term parking options. Unpowered sites are available for $15 per vehicle per night and powered sites are $20 per vehicle per night, which includes access to the dump point and potable water. 

Warracknabeal is a great place to visit, especially for RV travellers. Attractions in town include the Wheatland Museum, with its comprehensive collection of farm machinery and agriculture related artifacts. The Historical Centre houses a collection of items such as furniture, pictures, maps and personal items found in the homes of the pioneers of the era. Why not take a stroll along the walking tracks on either side of the Yarriambiack Creek, where the majestic gums lining the banks attract many varieties of native birds and animals. The northern section of the creek provides an area for recreational activities including water skiing, boating and swimming.
