The town site of Woodanilling is situated on the Great Southern Highway, approximately 252 kilometres from Perth. The town grew up around the Great Southern Railway Line and was gazetted in 1892. Wool and grain production have long been the main industry in Woodanilling.
Woodanilling Recreation Centre, via Cardigan St from Robinson Rd, has a dump point and potable water available, as well as short-term parking for self-contained vehicles for a fee of $5 per vehicle per night, payable to an honesty box on-site. For a longer stay, Queerearrup Lake is a scenic area offering unlimited parking to self-contained vehicles.
While in town, the history enthusiasts can take a heritage walk through town and this is quite a popular activity for visitors. The two-storey Woodanilling Tavern has been lovingly restored both inside and out, Richardson’s Store looks almost identical to its original state, dating back to the 1900s, and Woodanilling Church with its antique pedal pump organ and stained-glass windows allows visitors to reminisce back to times forgotten.
