Situated on the banks of the mighty Derwent River, New Norfolk is one of Tasmania’s oldest towns and is a great place to base yourself away from the hustle and bustle of Hobart, which is a leisurely 35 minutes away.
New Norfolk is the perfect spot from which to explore the Derwent Valley, which extends all the way through Maydena to Strathgordon and the Gordon Dam, and is an ideal place to launch a West Coast tour.
Located on the Lyell Hwy is Millbrook Rise RV Stop Over, this is a free camp site for self-contained vehicles only. Feel free to bring your furry friends along with you as they are welcomed here on a lead. Toilets are also available at this site.
This area is fast becoming known for its produce, including wine, beer and beef, along with seasonal fruits and other tempting delights. The area is also a haven for birdwatchers and bushwalkers.
