Barraba - NSW RVFT

Barraba is a small country town, located on the Manilla River in the heart of the Nandewar Ranges in NSW, and has a population of 1,200. The town was first settled in 1837. Barraba is rich in history, with many buildings dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Agriculture has been integral to the town’s development and survival. The region is also known for its fine beef and wool production, with grain being the area’s major crop. The Mille Park Vineyard is quickly becoming renowned for producing great local wines and liquors. Barraba has many natural attractions and a diverse range of activities to interest everyone including Mount Kaputar to the west, a 1,510 metres high extinct volcano, the Peel Fault geological and fossicking area to the east, and Split Rock Dam (35 kilometres south), which is a great spot for fishing and water sports.

The Lions Park, Fossickers Way, which is located approximately 5km south of the town centre offers short term parking for up to 24 hours. There is no fee to stay at this location. The Barraba Caravan Park has both short and long term parking available for a fee also. Potable water is located in several locations around town, including the Rotary park, the Recreation Ground, north of bridge, Omeara park, and Cherry Street park. The dump point is located outside the Council Works Depot in Cherry Street.

Many events are held regularly at Barraba, some of which include the Agricultural Show and Rodeo which is generally held in late February to early March, Barraba Festival which is held in November, as well as the Barraba Jockey Club Spring Cup which takes place in September.
