Eidsvold - QLD RVFT

Eidsvold is located 425 kilometres north-west of Brisbane and 230 kilometres west of Maryborough on the A3, Australia’s Country Way (Burnett Highway). The town was founded in 1848 by European Settlers Thomas and Charles Archer, and the town takes its name from Eidsvoll, a town in Norway where the Constitution of Norway was signed. Archer Homestead, the home of the pioneering settlers, rests on the banks of the Burnett River and remains just as it was over 100 years ago. The Eidsvold Historical Complex is home to a fine collection of historic buildings, including the Knockbreak Homestead, the original Clonave Homestead, and Riverleigh Cottage, which houses memorabilia, including the Eidsvold Soldiers corner, a display of photographs, medals and equipment from the various wars, traditional owners’ artefacts, slates, desks and other school equipment, and a manual telephone exchange.

Visitors to Eidsvold can find short-term parking at the RM Williams Centre. Sites are $10.40 per vehicle per night, and this rate includes access to toilets and potable water. The dump point is located on the Corner of Burnett Hwy & Esplanade Street, in Merv Hamilton Park, (next to the pool).

Eidsvold is home to the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre which honours this great Australian who lived at ‘Rockybar’ Eidsvold from 1955 to 1972. The Centre showcases the achievements of RM Williams, reflects his passion for bush lore and promotes rural job opportunities through education and skill development. Through this special place, RM Williams’ deep and abiding love of the bush lives on.
