Wandoan is located just off the Leichhardt Highway in Queensland, approximately 340km west-north-west of Brisbane. The town is a small community consisting of approximately 700 people and is the centre for the local cattle industry. Visitors are able to explore the social history and culture of Wandoan through a self-guided Heritage Trail, which includes the Juandah Heritage Site, public art features, and the Waterloo Plain Environmental Park. The park is home to a large variety of birdlife and local and native flora.

Those visiting Wandoan can find short-term parking at Waterloo Plain Environmental Park, West Street. There is no fee to stay here and parking is limited to 48 hours. Pets on a lead are permitted. Visitors who wish to stay and explore the area for an extended period of time can find long-term parking at Wandoan Showgrounds, Roche Creek Rd. There is also no fee to stay here, however parking is limited to a maximum of 7 days. Pets are also permitted here, provided they are on a lead. A dump point and potable water are located in Jerrard Street. 

Wandoan is the perfect place for RV travellers to base themselves as the historical town offers so must history and culture. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Wandoan Visitors Information Centre to access local knowledge of the region.
