Warren is a bustling rural town situated on the banks of the Macquarie River, 120 kilometres north-west of Dubbo and 540 kilometres north-west of Sydney. Covering an area of nearly 11,000 square kilometres, Warren Shire is home to more than 2,700 warm and friendly people and has an economy that is heavily dependent on agriculture, particularly sheep and cattle grazing, and wheat, oat and cotton growing. There are plenty of things to see and do in Warren, where visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as golf, bowling, tennis, shopping, fishing, a stroll along the River Red Gum Walk, or a picnic in one of the several parks located along the beautiful Macquarie River.

There are two areas in the centre of Warren that are suitable for recreational vehicle parking and in addition to the quality facilities of the Macquarie Valley Caravan Park, self-contained vehicles are able to park at the Bob Christenson Reserve for up to 96 hours. A public dump point and potable water are easily accessible at Oxley Park.

Warren is also the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding area by taking a day trip to some of the local towns and villages such as Collie, Nevertire, Quambone and Carinda. Further afield is the Macquarie Marches, one of the largest semi-permanent wetlands in south-eastern Australia. A trip to the Tiger Bay Wetlands on the outskirts of the township is also a must. Here you will find a scenic walking trail around the wetlands area with the convenience of picnic tables and off-road parking.

Warren has an excellent free camping area for self-contained vehicles. Lying alongside the Macquarie River and within comfortable walking distance to town.
