Melrose Showground - SA RVFD
Melrose is a small historical town in the shadow of Mount Remarkable and is located 265km north of Adelaide. Melrose is the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges and was discovered in 1840 with copper mining starting in 1846. There are a number of heritage listed sites in Melrose including Jackas Brewery and plenty of lovely cottages and shops. The Courthouse Heritage Museum offers informative displays and pioneer stories of the way life was in the regions oldest town.
Camping for self-contained vehicles is available at the showground at a cost of $10 per vehicle per night with showers power and water available at an additional cost.
Melrose Showground is is a great place to begin your discovery of the area. Bushwalking in the Mount Remarkable National Park is a great way to explore the area and experience the stunning views from Cathedral Rock and the War Memorial.
