Franklin is a small town located between Huon and Geeveston, in the south-east of Tasmania. The towns close proximity to Hobart and its heritage appeal have made this pretty town a favourite for sea-changers and visitors alike. The Progress Association and Franklin Township Development Committee have worked hard and succeeded in ensuring their town is welcoming and friendly. Franklin Visitor Information Centre is located at the Wooden Boat Centre on Main Street. The Centre also houses a Wooden Boat Discovery Centre, where visitors can enter the wonderful world of wooden boats, the history, construction and the tools used to create these vessels. Visitors can also witness students at work at the Wooden Boat School, as they hone their skills in this masterful trade. A major wooden project craft is launched from the Centre every 14 months.

Franklin Foreshore Reserve offers visitors access to short and long-term parking. Guests can stay for a maximum of 96 hours and sites are $15 per vehicle per night, which includes the use of a dump point and access to potable water.

Franklin is a wonderful place to visit, with the town hosting regular events, some of which include the Focus on Franklin Festival, the Franklin Flower Show, the Huon Agricultural Show and annual rowing events on the Huon River. It is the towns calm waters, productive soils, vast forests, and closeness to Hobart that gives Franklin great advantages that continue to delight all who visit the Huon area.
