Griffith - NSW RVFT

Griffith is a rich blend of cultures and traditions and has a vibrant, cosmopolitan lifestyle more like a European city than one located in central New South Wales. The city’s unmistakable Italian heritage lives on in its passion for food and wine. The main street is speckled by street cafe’s and delicatessens that offer a wide selection of locally-made produce. Griffith also boasts a fun-packed calendar of events that encompasses everything from food, wine, gardens and multicultural festivals and events.

The city is complemented by wide tree lined streets and radial patterns which are synonymous with Walter Burley Griffin and the city of Canberra. The region is the traditional land of the Wiradjuri people with the city and the surrounding region being developed with the onset of irrigation by soldier settlers and later on by Italian migrants.

The region is a delight to travel around with the vibrant colours reflecting the different seasons. Set amongst a fertile backdrop of vineyards, orchards and farms, it’s hard to believe that the Griffith region was dismissed as being ‘uninhabitable’. Now a veritable oasis, thanks to the development of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area in the early 1900s, the region is part of the largest food bowl of Australia.

Griffith is also home to some of Australia’s prominent premium wineries such as McWilliam’s, De Bortoli, Casella, West End, Nugan and Warburn to name a few and is now one of Australia’s largest wine producing regions. Many are still family owned and enjoy an Italian heritage with centuries old winemaking traditions and a philosophy of enjoying good wine and good food with family and friends as a celebration of life.

With friendly locals and a relaxed lifestyle, we welcome you to come and enjoy the many unique experiences, events and attractions Griffith offers.
