Devonport - TAS RVFT

Devonport is a city located in Northern Tasmania, at the mouth of the Mersey River, and is where you will disembark from the Spirit of Tasmania. For a touch of history, the Maritime Museum & Historical Society features a display of detailed models from the days of sail and the age of steam to the present seagoing passenger ferries. The Don River Railway Museum has the largest collection of steam locomotives and passenger carriages in Tasmania; the trains run daily along the Don River. Built in 1916, Home Hill is a National Trust property containing many interesting and historic mementos of Tasmania’s only Prime Minister, Joseph Lyons. The Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre portrays the life of tribal Tasmanian Aborigines in dioramas.

Those visiting Devonport can find short term parking at Horsehead Creek, Devonport Rd. Sites are available for $10 per vehicle per night with permits obtainable from the Visitor Information Centre. Please note stays are limited to 3 nights.  A dump point can be located just across the road from Horsehead Creek and potable water can be found Atkenhead Point Car Park on Victoria Parade.
