Tailem Bend is situated on the mighty Murray River 99kms east of Adelaide and was created when the railway came through in 1886. The railway station is a must see and the Tailem Info Station is located in the main street. The town is full of history and ‘Old Tailem Town’ is the best place to discover the days gone by, with the oldest building in the pioneer village dating around 1870.
Casual parking can be found in Railway Terrace, where potable water is also available. Short-term parking is at Tailem Bend Forest and at the Princess and Dukes Highway intersection for 24hrs at no charge at both places. Long-term parking is located at Tailem Bend Oval in Granites Road for a cost of $10 per vehicle per night. There is a 72hr limit at the oval. The dump point is on the Princess Highway, close to the town sign with the locomotive.
While in the region, take in the Murray River and take the opportunity to do a spot of boating and fishing.
