Maffra is located approximately 220 kilometres east of Melbourne, and is a major service centre for the thriving dairy farming, agriculture, pastoral, horticultural and irrigation district. Maffra is a short detour off the Princes Highway and is close to the towns of Sale, Stratford and Tinamba.
Short-term parking is offered to those visiting the area in self-contained vehicles. At nil cost, parking is available for up to 48 hours at Maffra RV Park. Both the dump point and potable water are also located at the park and pets on leads are permitted.
Visitors can fish for seasonal trout along the Macalister and Thomson Rivers, or perhaps a journey north may be more appealing where Lake Maggie boasts a great area for boating, waterskiing and camping. Home to a wide variety of riverside recreation, visitors can check out the nearby Stratford Village for art and craft shops, antiques and bric-a-brac.
