Frances is a town in South Australia located approximately 291 kilometres south-east of the state’s capital Adelaide and sits on the South Australian/Victoria border. With a population of only 50 people, this border town offers a scenic alternative for people travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne or vice versa.

RV travellers who decide to take this route during their travels can find 72-hour parking at Frances Recreation Reserve. Parking is available for $10 per vehicle per night (payable to Frances Store), and access to toilets and water is available. A dump point is also accessible at the reserve. 

The town is within close proximity to local caves and several recreational fishing lakes. Another popular attraction is Little Desert National Park; the best time to visit the park is between late winter and early summer when the temperatures are comfortable and the park is full of blossoms and wildflowers.
