Gin Gin is a small rural town located in the Bundaberg region of Queensland. The town is often referred to as Wild Scotsman country with the capture of one of Queensland’s rogue bushrangers taking place in town back in 1866. A gateway to great Barramundi fishing, Gin Gin is just 20 minutes south of Lake Monduran which is popular for both fishing and camping.
Gin Gin Rest Area on the Bruce Highway offers RV travellers with an overnight parking option up to 24 hours. There is no-cost for parking in the rest area and access to toilets, water and covered seating is available. A dump point can also be located there, and visitors will find potable water located at this site (a short distance from the dump point).
Whether travelling north or south, a stopover in Gin Gin is always worthwhile. The Wild Scotsman markets are held every Saturday in the main street offering plenty of local produce to sample and indulge in. While in town, you can also pay a visit to the old Courthouse which now houses a community run gallery space.
