Mungindi is uniquely situated on both sides of the NSW and Queensland border and the connecting point of four Shires. Divided by the Barwon river, it is the only border town in the southern hemisphere with the same name in two states.
RV travellers will find short-term parking at the Barwon River Camp area on the Carnarvon Highway. Parking is available for up to 72 hours at no charge and includes access to potable water, toilets cold showers and a barbecue. Pets are permitted on leads. The town’s dump point is located at the corner of Wirrah and Loftus Streets in the memorial grounds beside toilet block.
Mungindi is on the Artesian basin, offering locals and visitors the opportunity to soak in the artesian pool. Allow the soothing, mineral water to rejuvenate your body in tranquil surroundings before heading out for a meal at one of the town's clubs or hotels. The landscape between Moree and Mungindi is starkly beautiful, so your travels around the region will not disappoint. You may encounter all manner of Australian native wildlife so keep your camera handy.
