Molong is a charming little town located approximately 36km north of Orange and was originally established as a police and military outpost by Charles Sturt in 1828. Known for its strong agricultural production, Molong specialises in farming grain and grazing. The wine industry within this region is also highly productive with numerous cellar doors to attract visitors. The town is steep in history with many sites to see during a visit. Just east of the town, off the Mitchell Highway, is the grave of Yuringah. Yuringah was an Aboriginal tracker who accompanied Sir Thomas Mitchell, on his 1864 expedition. Molong is also home to the Packham Pear, which was first cultivated in the area in 1896 by Charles Packham.

This RV Friendly Town has everything you could need during your short stay. Short term parking is available at the Rotary Park RTA Rest Area No.8, just off the Mitchell Highway. Available for self-contained vehicles only, RVs are permitted to park in the area for up to 24 hours. There is access to bins, toilets, and covered seating at nil cost. For those wishing to stay in the area a little longer, Kingsley Fairbridge Memorial Reserve Rest Area offers parking for up to 48 hours. Here, visitors have access to bins and covered seating at nil cost, with pets on leads permitted.

With many other highlights in town, such as poet Banjo Paterson’s childhood home and the ancient caves of Borenore Kast Conservation Area, there is plenty to see and do in the little town of Molong.
