Southern Cross is located 375km east of Perth and 220km west of Kalgoorlie, on the Great Eastern Highway. The town was founded in 1888, by gold prospectors, and officially gazetted in 1890. Today, Southern Cross is the major town and administrative centre of the Shire of Yilgarn. 

The RV Service Facility is located on Achernar Street and Sirius Street, providing visitors with potable water, access to a dump point and casual parking within the CBD. For a longer stay, head out to the Old Information Bay, situated on the corner of the Great Eastern Highway and Three Boys Road, just west of Southern Cross.

Southern Cross, with its historic gold mining feel, is a wonderful place to visit, especially for RV travellers. The main attractions in the area include the Number 6 Pumping Station, the Old Cemetery, the Court House and Museum, and Frasers Mine.
