Birchip is located approximately 312 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. Birchip is home of the Mallee Bull, and is best known as the gateway to the Mallee. A statue of ‘Big Red,’ the legendary Mallee Bull is even located in the middle of the main street of Birchip, dividing the road.
Taylor Park provides parking for RV travellers at nil charge, and has toilets, shelter, bins, potable water and BBQs. A dump point can be found at the Birchip Community Leisure Centre, on the corner of Johnson and Morrison Streets.
Birchip has a history museum where the history of the town is on display, including the wild dog fence, pioneer memorabilia and photographs, and the story of the famous stump jump plough that opened up much of Australia to cereal growing. Birchip is only eight kilometres from Tchum Lake, where you can spend time fishing, enjoying water sports, taking nature walks or simply relaxing on the lawns at the foreshore of the lake.
