Oatlands - TAS RVFT

Oatlands is a pretty, historical village dating back to the early 1800s, located approximately 84 kilometres north of Hobart. Over 150 convict-built sandstone buildings remain in the village, many now operating as cafes, art galleries and antique stores. Oatlands reflects an early European village, with its colonial cottages and original court house still standing in Campbell Street, as well as the iconic Callington Mill, built in 1837 and the only operating mill of its type in the southern hemisphere.

Lake Dulverton Stop Over is a tranquil location to pull up for a few days. Parking is permitted for up to 72 hours at no charge, and toilets, bins, BBQs and potable water are available. A dump point is located nearby on the corner of William and Wellington Streets.

The Oatlands District Historical Society is worth a visit to learn all about the town’s past. It has an interesting historical display that provides a detailed insight into the rich history of the area. There is also a public nine-hole golf course for those who remembered to pack their golf clubs.
