The town of Wagin is located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, approximately 225 kilometres south-east of Perth, and is home of the Giant Ram. The town was originally a railway station for the surrounding wheat and sheep properties. Today, Wagin's industry has expanded to include barley, oats, lupins, canola and cattle farming.
Casual parking is available in Tudhoe Street, and visitors can find short and long-term parking at the Wagin Showgrounds, located in Kitchener Street. Powered sites from $10 per vehicle per night. A dump point is located on-site.
Visitors flock to the Village in June for Foundation Day celebrations, with local stalls, produce, vintage cars, a recognition ceremony and flag raising ceremony taking place. Another major event is Woolorama, one of the states largest agricultural shows, held annually in March. Wagin's largest attraction is the Giant Ram, located in the Wetlands Park. Built by residents in 1985 to acknowledge the prosperity created by the wool industry, he stands over nine metres tall.
