The Goulburn Lilac City Festival is Australia's longest continuously-run community festival. It was established in 1951 and has occurred annually, every October long weekend ever since.
The festival is planned to leave behind the days of COVID and return to the outdoors to celebrate Goulburn in the spring once again by welcoming a myriad of Carnival Rides, festival markets, music, food, flowers, and heritage celebrations to Goulburn.
A traditional shop-front competition will have the City’s Auburn Street dotted with lilac windows while the central Belmore Park will be green, blossoming and air abuzz.
Saturday has the official opening ceremony at Belmore Park, Markets all day, Queen Crowning, Prince & Princess and Lilac Baby announcements, Garden & Business Display winners, Battle of the Bands, Quilt Show at the Soldiers, Lilac Bowls Tournament at the Bowlo, live music at the Hibernian Hotel and a 1970's Disco at the Workers Club.
Sunday has the Service of Blessing at Belmore Park, Markets & Food Stalls all day, Street Parade along Auburn Street, Puppet Shows at the CWA Rooms, Quilt Show at the Soldiers Club and Bell Ringing at St Saviours' Cathedral.
Monday has Markets all day as well as the Pet Parade at Belmore Park.
