This picturesque town is located in the Upper Hunter region of NSW. It’s the closest stepping off point to the Barringtons from Sydney and renowned for its rugged countryside, old shops and facades, instilling visitors with a sense of old-world charm and heritage. Dungog offers visitors an array of entertainment throughout the year, including the Dungog Festival in October, the Dungog Show in November and Pedalfest in September. The Visitors Information Centre is located on the corner of Dowling and Brown streets and can provide travellers with ample information on nearby bushwalking and drive trails.
Frank Robinson Park on Stroud Hill Road, offers CMCA members free short term parking on an unpowered site, with potable water and a dump point also available at the showground. Dungog Common (CMCA Members Only) – an old-style English Common – offers CMCA members 600 acres of undulating hills right next to the heart of town (maximum stay three days), Fee for CMCA members with fully self-contained vehicles is $15 per vehicle per night.
To the north of Dungog is Barrington Tops National Park, with its many camping areas and walking tracks, it is a must stop attraction for nature lovers. There’s also a lot to see in the neighbouring towns of Clarence Town, Paterson, Gresford and Vacy.
