Lake Cargelligo is situated on the banks of the Lake and this beautiful little town offers many attractions for the visitor. Be sure to drop into the Visitor Information Centre in Foster Street, and be amazed at the Stone Butterfly and Gem Collection, while picking up all the information you will need to explore Lake Cargelligo. The main feature of the area is the lake itself. It was the water source for the townspeople of Lake Cargelligo and a meeting place over the years for Aboriginal people. This unexpected oasis remains relatively unspoiled and undiscovered by the travelling public and is a great place for bird watching, fishing, and water sports such as sailing. There are plenty of meal options available to visitors including, the bowling club, Lake Sports Club Restaurant, Commercial Hotel, the Blacker Family Royal Mail, Fisho’s Hot Bake or the Old Bank Coffee Shop on the corner of Foster and Canada Streets. The Lake Cargelligo Museum is located in Holt Street and is a community owned and operated museum which houses a large collection of rural machinery, household relics and much more. The Museum is also home to a unique live display of working horses on the June long weekend open day or by appointment for large groups.

Those visiting Lake Cargelligo can find short term parking at Dead Mans Point for up to 96 hours. Additional parking is also available at Lakeview Caravan Park, however, please note that fees apply. A dump point and potable water is also available at the caravan park.

The banks of Lake Cargelligo are a great base from which to explore the history of the region while enjoying all the activities the Lake has to offer. The locals are waiting to welcome you with a friendly smile and wave.
