Wynyard is a relatively big town, located on the north-west coast of Tasmania, 17km west of Burnie. With a population exceeding 13,500, Wynyard is a rural town with its industries being dairy and agriculture. It is also a great fishing destination where the fresh catch of the day is cooked while you watch the boats come in.

Those visiting Wynyard can find a dump point and potable water can be found at Transfer Station, Goldie Street.

Wynyard; a place of natural beauty, with waterfalls and forests to enjoy, is a perfect holiday destination. There is plenty to see and do within the area, including beach activities, ocean and river fishing, scenic drives through picturesque landscapes, as well as kayaking and waterside walks. Behind Wynyard are small villages dotted along country roads, each with broad views of beautiful patchwork green, gold and brown farmland. Every September and October the Table Cape Tulip Farm bursts into colour, with a vast array of tulips. Table Cape is an almost circular volcanic outcrop overlooking Wynyard, with its northern face rising 170 metres above sea level. The Table Cape Lookout and Lighthouse, established in 1888, is the best place to take in this magnificent view.
