Home Hill, is located in tropical north Queensland and is a pretty little town on the southern side of the mighty Burdekin River. Home Hill is connected to the nearby town of Ayr, by the landmark Silver Link Bridge, the longest crossing of its type in Australia. Drop into the Silver Link Interpretive Centre on Eighth Avenue to see an impressive photographic history of the bridge. Ashworth’s Tourist Centre, at the northern entrance to town, has an amazing display of gems, minerals, fossils and meteorites from all over the planet. For panoramic views of the district’s farmlands and waterways, head to Inkerman Hill, 12kms south of town. There are covered picnic tables at the summit. The cane crushing season, which runs from June to November, brings ample opportunities to witness a cane fire. Sugar cane paddocks are burnt before harvest, and spectacular cane fires light the skies on most evenings. 

Those visiting Home Hill can find short-term parking at Home Hill Comfort Stop. There is a maximum 48 hour limit across a 14 day period. Potable water can be obtained from this location and a dump point is accessible in Sixth Street.

Home Hill is a great place for RV travellers to visit.
