Murray Bridge is located in South Australia and is situated 76km east-south-east of Adelaide, and 77km north of Meningie. The town was originally known as Edward’s Crossing, because of an early settler’s hospitality to passing drovers. Today the city is the centre of a major agricultural district which is driven by dairy, chicken raising, pig breeding, tomato and snow pea growing.
Murray Bridge Showground offers both powered and unpowered sites, with the ability to park-up for a full week. There is a dump point and potable water at Railway Terrace and North Terrace, and for a full range of all facilities and services in town, be sure to visit the Murray Bridge Visitor Information Centre.
Although many of the Murray Bridge attractions are water based, such as skiing and swimming, there are many exciting on land attractions that are well worth a visit. Just out of Murray Bridge there is a new open range zoo and breeding ground for arid and grassland animals at the Monarto Zoological Park. Many species of animals roam this 1000 hectare site. Tourists have the opportunity to take a safari bus around the park with a personal guide.
