Koorda is a small farming community found in the heart of the Western Australia’s Wheatbelt, 238 kilometres north-east of Perth. Basic amenities are offered in the town including a supermarket, service station and tyre repairs, and during the summer months a drive-in theatre operates showing movies. The old hospital is now a museum with an interesting display of medical equipment and farm machinery, along with community and family artifacts.
For those visiting the area, parking is available in the Memorial Hall Carpark, cnr of Allenby & Birdwood Sts, as well as the swimming pool carpark in Haig Street. There is a $5 per vehicle per night fee which is payable to Shire of Koorda Office or honesty box at the caravan park. A 24 hr time limit applies for parking, and potable water is available on-site. Pets on a lead are permitted.
There is much natural beauty to be discovered nearby Koorda, including the granite outcrops of Mollerin and Badgerin Rocks, as well as the Koorda Nature Flora Reserve with its spectacular display of wildflowers from July to September.
