Goomalling is located 130 kilometres north-east of Perth and is another wonderful and welcoming Western Australian town. The name Goomalling comes from an Aboriginal word meaning, 'the place of the silver-grey possum,' and the town was officially gazetted in 1903. With its wide streets, Goomalling is a mixture of historic buildings and modern facilities.
Casual and short-term parking is available at Railway Terrace. There is no fee to stay here, and stays are limited to 24 hours. A dump point and potable water can be found at Goomalling Caravan Park, Throssell Street.
To get a ‘snapshot’ of Goomalling and its people, visit the Wheatbelt Wander Wall on Railway Terrace, where approximately 200 people have donated and created significant to the town. Along the railway you will also spot rustic metal art sculptures and you can stop for a picnic at the War Memorial Park BBQ area with gazebos and a shady gumtree. From July to September each year, the orchids put on a spectacular display and you can take some wonderful photos from various locations around the region. A great place to admire the orchids is at Oak Park Nature Reserve, an extensive area of remnant native fauna and flora, granite outcrops and gnamma holes.
