Thargomindah is filled with wide tree lined streets and beautifully designed median strips. The town has plenty of historic buildings to admire including the old hospital, old gaol and more. Thargomindah is used largely for sheep and cattle grazing, with oil and gas exploration and mining in the Jackson Oil Field.
Travellers visiting town can make the most of its excellent RV facilities. Parking is available for self-contained vehicles for a negotiated length of time at Bulloo Riverside Free Camp. There is no cost to stay at this site, and bins and barbecues are available for use. The town’s dump point and potable water is located at Thargomindah Roadhouse, on the corner of Frew and Stafford Streets.
The shire holds some fantastic annual events including the Shearers Shindig, Music Muster, Thargomindah Motorbike Sports and Enduro and more! Visitors are encouraged to pass through during one of these events to really see what this small town is all about. When visiting Thargomindah, visitors can enjoy a scenic river walk by bicycle, Segway or foot.
