Maclean is located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales on the Clarence River, near the Pacific Highway. Maclean calls itself ‘the Scottish Town in Australia’. Many of its street signs are written in Gaelic as well as English and Australia’s oldest free Presbyterian Church still holds services for the descendants of the early settlers.
The Maclean Showground provides parking for self-contained vehicles for up to 72 hours. A dump point and potable water are available at the showground, as well as toilets, bins, covered seating and power. Parking is just $15 per vehicle per night, payable to the showground honesty box.
While in town, be sure to explore all the historic architecture of the area, take the heritage walking trail, visit the museum and don’t miss the breathtaking views from the Maclean lookout over the town and the mighty Clarence River. For golfing enthusiasts there is an 18-hole course located in beautiful surroundings on Woodford Island.
