Fingal is a small town located in the north-east of Tasmania, on the Esk Highway. The Fingal valley offers travellers and residents alike an environment unique for its scenery and colonial history. The town has a number of historically significant buildings, particularly in the town’s main street, Talbot Street. The Holder Brothers Store dates from 1859 and nearby is the old Tasmania Hotel, constructed, in part, from the stones that were originally used to build the prison barracks in the 1840s.
Those visiting Fingal can find short-term parking at Fingal Park, located in Talbot Street. A dump point and potable water are also available here.
Fingal is a wonderful place to visit, especially for RV travellers, so be sure to immerse yourself in the history. Visit convict cells, the convict probation station, or take a stroll through The Old Tasmanian Hotel Community Centre. To the north you will also find the Mathinna Falls Forest Reserve and the Evercreech Forest Reserve.
